We are thrilled to be introducing our new Optometrist Gillian Stepek who has joined the Brownbills team this May and brings with her a wealth of experience and a passion for optometry that is truly inspiring.
Before pursuing her career in optometry, Gillian spent several years immersed in the field of medical research. However, she had been interested in Optometry since a young age, and made the decision to return to her studies, pursuing an Optometry degree at Glasgow Caledonian University. She graduated from this with a first-class degree, and fully qualified as an Optometrist in July 2021. Shortly after this, Gillian relocated from Scotland to Kent and joined an independent practice near Kings Hill, West Malling.
Gillian enjoys learning and has particular clinical interests in paediatric optometry, patients with learning difficulties, myopia management, low vision and visual stress. Driven by a commitment to clinical excellence, Gillian has obtained accreditations in myopia management and MECS, with aspirations to further her expertise in paediatric eye care, learning difficulties, and low vision. She is also actively involved as a STEP mentor with Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, extending her knowledge and support to pre-registration optometry students.
